Great First Week!
Hi,
What a great first week back! We mainly focused on building our routines and expectations in regards to literacy and mathematics this week. Each day, students will have a 20 minute independent literacy time, as well as an hour of literacy stations. For math, we will start our day with math talk (problem solving), one minute timed math activity to build fluency, and then finish our math block by learning in small groups.
On Friday, we watched Inside Out as an introduction to different feelings and zones that students can be in (blue zone - sad, red zone - angry, yellow zone - hyper or nervous, green zone - calm, happy, best zone for learning). We also talked about expected and unexpected behaviours/responses when in different zones. Next week, we will look at specific strategies to support us in different zones, as well as what expected and unexpected behaviours we may personally experience when in different zones.

- Meet the Teacher, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm - Thursday, August 29th (half day for students)
- IPP Meetings, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Thursday, August 29th (half day for students)
- No school for students on Friday, August 30th.
